“We’re such proud winners and definitely over the moon” is the first reaction of owners David and Sherran Patient. With thirty-plus years as highly successful, multi-award winners in retail businesses, including their own convenience store. In the forecourt sector, they operated multiple high turnover Esso outlets as Licences and also varied retail site, area, and operational roles for Shell UK prior to this.
In 2018 this husband-and-wife team decided it was time to move on while giving them a new challenge. They sold their very successful store to a multiple chain and took a short career break.

david-and-sherran-award-002.jpgThe new challenge in Summer 2019 was to join Card Collection, their long-held greeting card supplier at their former store, as Territory Franchisees for part of Essex and Suffolk.
After little over 18 months and despite the trying challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, they know that this award by Card Collection recognises their innate talents and the secrets of their success.
What are these secrets? David and Sherran prove that nothing can beat:
Customer Service; Team Work; Depth of Retail and Business Knowledge which includes knowing their customers’ businesses inside and out by means of empathising and understanding their needs. Above all: Attention to Detail, Drive, and sheer Hard Work are the key.
“We would like to thank both our Regional Manager Andy Byskup for his encouragement and support from day one and also our neighbouring franchisee and friend Kevin Miles who has been a great help”
“Our team remains fully committed to a top and professional service. Whenever viable we encourage our customers go for upgrades or new equipment in store and have built trusting relationships with them which has been very rewarding.”
The team has been fantastic in meeting this challenge, “a big thank you to our son and daughter Lucy and Brad who have been there working very hard alongside us , not forgetting little granddaughter and Mascot Daisy who turns up dressed in work clothes of black fleece, trousers and shoes and mucks in helping pack the cards ! (Especially the children’s!!) .” We have had a ball despite all the challenges we’ve enjoyed it and aim to kick on from here – Onwards and Upwards !!
