UK Greetings which includes its Card Connection business unit, believes in being proactive in the local community engaging with local schools and colleges, demonstrating the importance and value that greeting cards can have in our lives. This way, they not only raise the profile of greeting cards as an industry, but they also help attract the future talent needed to keep our vibrant business thriving.

UKG were invited to Madni Academy to support their Enterprise Day.
Year 6 and 8 Students at the girls’ school were asked to design an Eid card in groups. The winning team would see their card printed at Canon Way, and the card sold to parents with proceeds going to their chosen charity Benefit Mankind.

In the morning Tim Nixon Spoke to the students about how a card is created and the cost of product. The students were then left to work on their designs before judges returning to do the competition judging! The judging panel consisted of two teachers at the Academy and Laura Roderick, Emma Harrison, and Razina Laher from UK Greetings. The designs were fantastic, and it was such a tough decision! We were all really impressed with the effort and the thought that had gone into the creating their designs.

“The pupils at Madni Academy created some fantastic Eid cards, putting in lots of effort and showing their creativity. They took into account design as well as cost and worked extremely well in their teams to create the final designs. Overall, it was a great effort from everyone, and a great collaborative initiative for our neighbouring school.”
Razina Laher – Licensing Manager

The winning team have seen their design brought to life, being printed using our new digital press. They also had a tour around our production facility, led by Steve Loney and Monta Fryer.

It has been so rewarding to collaborate with Madni Academy and be part of their Enterprise Day, the students are so talented, and it was really exciting to see their winning design being printed!

A massive thank you to everyone who was involved helping make this happen from our judges to UK Greetings Pre-Media and Manufacturing.

We are really looking forward to working with Madni Academy on many more projects throughout the year.
