Colin and Penny Ellis have been with Card Connection for over 5 years and are still pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved from a well-run, established business.
In the past year, with all the challenges that COVID has thrown their way, they have still managed to grow their area by almost 8%.
Much of this has been achieved by seizing every opportunity to open some fantastic stores. Most are from personal recommendations through the great relationship they have with their customers.
Here is an example of a Post Office where they have managed to oust their competitors, to create this amazing display.
It doesn’t always come easy and when a new shop is identified. Colin & Penny keep chasing it down until they are able to speak to the decision maker.
To get this new Budgens store the dynamic duo had to meet the owner in the evening and convince him they were the best supplier for his shop. He liked the wonderful product and the fact that Colin & Penny were a local family run business, willing to work with him to make the most of every opportunity in his shop to grow sales.
With all the extra sales and profit this year, Colin & Penny have been able to invest back into the business, for things to continue to grow. They have upgraded fixtures in their better outlets and agreed more profitable card ranges in others. To make their work run smoother, their older van has been replaced with a larger one, saving on servicing and ongoing costs though being more fuel efficient. The new van’s extra space also allows them to service more shops in a working day.
The new vehicle certainly shows their customers that they are dealing with a professional company who are serious about their business. As everyone knows, you only get one chance to make a first impression and what a better way to do that than having this major corporate tool looking great?!
