Early in 2019, Jane Pitt and Kevin Field took the brave decision to ditch working for other people and become their own bosses by taking on Card Connection’s greeting card franchise for the Exeter region.
They took the area by storm, no doubt helped by Jane’s previous experience of the product category as a manager at Clintons cards and Kevin’s previous knowledge of the area as an HGV driver for Costa Coffee. The business grew form their first month, with sales ending 8% up in the first year, which in virtually unheard of for new franchisees within the network.
Despite the impact of Covid, which struck at the end of their first year, they remained upbeat by treating it just like any other new challenge with the business.
Jane & Kevin’s positive attitude has seen them come through Covid with their business looking a strong as ever, and just part of the reason they won the award as Card Connection’s Southern Regional winners at the network’s recent annual conference.
Proof that their leap of faith to take their future into their own hands by investing in their franchise was the right decision for them. Or, as their Regional Sales Manager Andrew Bull put it, “They are just living the dream!”
